I’m so torn. This is SUCH a fun place. Gorgeous beach- shallow. You can stay all day and hang. Literally shallow forever and super clear. I did get stung by a jelly fish - but it is the season for these little suckers and they really are not that painful. It felt like I walked into a thorny bush. The only thing that was super disgusting - SEA ROACHES!!!! I was like “wtf?” We just came in December and had zero issues. Today, we come with our teens and I felt something on my leg at Blue Bayou. Went to swat it off thinking it was a leaf and it was a big of some sort. Ok. No biggie. Join family for lunch and feel a mosquito like bite on my breast. Go to swat it and it’s STUCK on it! I had to pinch it off like a tick. And it drew blood!!! More than a mosquito. Asked the waiter and he said “those are sea roaches (!!!!). They live in the wood.” Ok. So we move away. LIES! All of a sudden all of the kids come to me with these things on them. We close out. My daughter and I decide to swim to Secret Beach Water Park as guys close out. Half way in, I start feeling bites. I think I’m paranoid scratching old bug bites. Reach down to my tummy and grab a FREAKING roach off of it! It crawls all over my hand and I freak. We run out of the water and now I am done! So sad. It’s such a gorgeous beach and the water has NO sargassum. The water - Almost Tahiti like…. Almost. I’m sorry. I just can’t come back.

We had an amazing time. It’s definitely pricey if you want drinks and food. Everything was tasty and the service was outstanding. Tony and James were just fantastic. James made the drinks tasty and strong.

I was glad that my family experienced the beach, but the countless sea roaches allowed us to only be in the water briefly. The water side meal was nice (excellent plantains) and sun kept us happy.

We were just in San Pedr o for several days and the seaweed was so bad we couldn't hang out at the beach. Fortunately, we discovered Secret Beach and it is worth the drive!! We went two days for a great relaxing time on the beach where we could hang out in the beautiful with waiters bringing us drinks and food to our palapa water! It is a little bit of a trek but has several free beach clubs with wait staff that is so accomodating!

The 'sea roaches' killed it for me. Beautiful crystal clear water that I couldn't swim in. I could deal with the overpriced food and drinks if I could do something more than just sit and roast in the sun. Staff said that they weren't bad if you didn't go past the dock, not true.
Competing music from each of the beach bars sounds like a continuous trainwreck.
The staff are pushy, asking you to order drinks over and over again. We tried two different places and they were both overbearing.
I'm a nature person but would've preferred my hotel's pool to this mess. Oh, and tons of loud drunk customers yelling. Hard pass.

Some of the worlds most beautiful water to swim & float in. Get there early to secure your perfect spot! We were able to see some beautiful fish from the dock as well. Excellent service at all of the beach bars and restaurants; we happened to be at Pirates and very much enjoyed our day!

Water was very nice!! Except the leaches😬
A lot of overpriced bars and restaurants, with mediocre food!!!! Worth checking out for a day , but definitely get food before you go and bring your own drinks!!!

Are there sea lice in February?

One of my children did develop a red rash on his thighs that lasted the whole trip but the rest of us were fine. It's difficult to know if this is due to sea lice or not. I am imagining that it wasn't since no one else had that problem.

When sitting in the water, how do people keep their phones and money dry? Are there lockers?

We had seats up front near the water and tucked phone and money under a couple of towels. Just kept a watch on our stuff. There are plenty of people around. Seemed safe. I also have a airlocked phone case that I kept credit card and money in. Put it in my pocket, but you could also hang it around your neck. You can buy them at sporting goods stores or amazon. Like at home be smart with your stuff, but remember you are there to have fun. People at secret beach and on the island were so friendly. We are going back in July. You will love it there!

Good afternoon ! We are a family of 6 (11 to 16 year olds) who will be in San Pedro early March for a week. We'll have 1 or 2 golf carts and looking at spending a day at Secret Beach. Reviews are mixed, should we go on a Sunday or is there a better day to go to avoid the heavy crowd but still experience the vibe ? Thanks a million !

Well you are going via high peak times . Unfortunately, it may be crowded regardless. But if I had to pick a day it would be Sunday .

Hello, we will be in Belize over Easter weekend; I have read that some things are closed for the holiday. Will secret beach be open on Easter Sunday?

I guess the better question would be are the vendors going to be open on the beach for Easter. My best guess would be yes. I went on December 26 which is a recognized holiday in Belize. They observe boxing day do the fact that are part of the British Commonwealth.
Buenas noches, hay playas en donde pueda uno disfrutar de la libertad de no textiles? Saludos cordiales.
Are You able to snorkel at secret beach?

Yes, you can snorkel but there isn’t much to see at least where I was at Blue Bayou. The water is very shallow about 3 feet so you could already see everything.

Is there any where to blow up air floating mattresses?

No, there is no air available at the beach, but several of the bars located on the beach had several types of floatees for rent :)
