My husband did surveying back in the day so the part of the museum set aside for that interested him. My daughter and I had a nice walk down by the river back to the visitor's center while he looked at the surveying exhibits.

Great places to spend the day. Fun for one and fun for all. Kids of all ages would enjoy visiting the train depot and its vintage trains. Only walking distance from the RiverAquarium in beautiful downtown Albany.

SW Ga Regional fine art was ongoing when we visited in June, 2015. Although the Center was small, the staff was very helpful, the art wonderful, the information about the region enlightening. Nice exhibits. Thoughtfully, laid out.

Thronateeska has ever changing exhibits that represent the history of south Georgia, need to research a historical event they probably have just what you need, great display of Indian relics, a planetarium to learn about the solar system, and games to play to learn more about science. Sometimes the trains are open too view a great model train exhibit. It... More

It's a bit small, but if you're in the area, definitely stop by! It'll take about an hour or two to see everything but it's a great little place with a good deal of hands-on activities for kids.

Thronateeska (Cherokee for place where flint is picked up from the ground) Heritage Center details the life from the early native period through today of life in the region. It is housed primarily in Albany, Georgia's grand old railroad depot. The adjacent railroad restaurant is used for public functions including President Clinton's campaign bid in his first run for the... More

This is a combination science/history museum. First, it was very difficult to find. When we finally did find it, the signage was very poor. I never saw the history exhibits and just assumed that it... More
