Stopped in to the museum because they advertised they also had a coffee shop at the location. All I saw was a sparse gift shop and a random coffee pot. Would love to explore the museum at some point, but a little put off about the false coffee advertisement (they had a fancy wooden sign out front advertising it) and feeling pressured by staff to visit and donate to the museum.

There is a espresso machine and a regular coffee machine for coffee. We serve coffee from either for $1 per cup. A great value given the going price at Starbucks and the like. And while we don't provide iced latte or the fancier permutations of coffee drinks, we do provide an outstanding maritime library and dockage on the river where you can enjoy a relaxed cup of joe. Also free internet access is provided. The "fancy wooden sigh" is a boat transom with the words "coffee shop" .. there is really nothing fancy about that and it is factual. This visitor obviously had expectations of a Starbucks style environment. Guess he missed the much larger signage advertising the Maritime Museum. Unfortunate that this visitor did not take the time to enjoy the great bargain on the coffee and the relaxed informative surroundings of the museum.

My wife and I were staying in Apalachicola over the 4th of July weekend and decided to stop in the museum. The museum is not very big but gives some really interesting insight into the maritime history of the city. It was very enlightening to see how the maritime industry developed around the local resources and impacted the economy. It was certainly worth the time to stop in.

What a great stop on a Hot day of touring Apalachicola. The museum is by dontation and we certainly enjoyed the 2 hours we stayed and learned about the rivers boat travel throughout the ages. They have a wooden ketch sailboat docked that you can tour and see. A historic paddle boat is on it's way to become part of the museum in the future, we will be back!

This place is the brainchild of George Floyd, a local who grew up here, made it good in the business world, and returned to preserve, protect, and present the heritage of this fascinating old community. No visit to the area would be complete without touring the maritime museum and the reconstructed lighthouse. These are the cultural highlights of the region and should not be missed. The maritime museum and the lighthouse would not exist without George's dedication, love of the community, and financial support. We all owe him a great debt.

This was quite a commercial beehive in its day and gives a great perspective of the changes that have taken place over the years. Do not miss the chance to take the sunset cruise where you will be given a waterfront tour of the town and a wonderful narrative of its change. Pick up a seafood snack and bring your beverage of choice and enjoy your cocktail hour in a different and wonderful way.

They took my money for the riverboat cruise and then tried to bully me into changing the day when they couldn't fill the boat. They present conflicting information on the web site. Different pages on the site have different prices. The dates are even conflicting. The email they sent me wasn't written in complete sentences. In fairness, they did refund my money, but that still left me with the river cruise that never was.

The riverboat cruise on the original date selected was canceled due to illness of the primary captain and the backup captain being out of town. We NEVER cancel trips due to a low number of guests. We always offer alternative dates and times, but the term "bully" in suggesting alternatives is unusually harsh. Guessing this visitor was simply upset about the trip cancellation to go off on this and incomplete sentences. OMG .. did I just do an incomplete sentence too ??? How dare someone not use proper grammar in an email, Facebook or Twitter ;) And as noted a refund was provided but the closing observation was " left me with the river cruise that never was" could well have been undertaken on an alternative date and time as we offered, but they did not accept. Seems as they were looking for a free trip due to cancelation of the scheduled one even after the refund was made. Come on .. really .. I have never seen that happen with airlines, hotels, busses or anything of the like. Very unrealistic expectations and unfair review ... oops .. another incomplete sentence.

If you have a chance take a dinner cruise from the maritime museum, whether it is full moon or not. The museum director was on board to discuss historic Appalachacola. The full delicious dinner was catered by Megan and included a glass of wine or beer all for $75. A very fair price.

Lots of well documented exhibits, videos, even a small library. I learned a lot about the history of the town and its industries. It feels like a labor of love by folks who simply love boats and Apalachicola.

My husband is into building wooden boats. The boad workshop was quite small.
We did take a sunset cruise but there was not sunset :(
It was still an enjoyable ride. The boat operator was a storyteller - a 71 yr old former oyster catcher. I had to listen very carefully to understand his southern accent!
My husband lost his wallet on board but it was retrieved the net morning!
Some nice locally made souvenirs and good coffee.
