Silver Canyon Pottery offers an intimate glimpse into tile production on Catalina Island. Small, all inclusive tours, personally led by the artist, educate guests about the history, geology, artistic traditions, and techniques that created the historic tiles that define Catalina. Most fun of all, guests don an apron, role up their sleeves and create their own tile! Great family activity.

This was a awesome experience. Great history on the island, then good hands on title making instruction from the artist. Can't believe what I made.

Robin gives a very interesting history lesson of the island. Then proceeds to instruct in tile making. Unlike so many things "To Do" on Catalina, this is a small intimate tour. It is fun, informative and personal. Then four weeks later your tiles show up...More

Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know you loved it and your tiles too. My running joke is "applications for employment taken daily!" There really is no difference between the tile we make and the tiles you make. Hope they...More

This was my second time to take this tile-making class. Robin is so knowledgeable about Catalina history and pottery. My granddaughter and I had a fun time learning how to make the tiles, selecting the molds and colors. I can't wait to see them. Thanks,...More

We took the one hour pottery class and loved it! Robin, the teacher, is a very charismatic person who grew up on the island and knows a ton about its history and geology. We went to the Catalina Museum earlier, but we still learned a...More

Thanks! I always feel a little extra pressure when folks have been to our new Catalina Island Museum first! (only a little, wink wink). I could call our studio " hands on history" in the making. That's the cool thing about clay. You're tiles last...More

Thanks Jill. So glad you liked it so much we will see you again. Most folks who come back don't even mind the history lesson again. I try to add new things as I learn them, often from my guests! See ya again. Robin

It was great to see you again Jerry. I love having "tile veterans" back with us. HOPEFULLY I will finally get to those new patterns I am going to add to the selection so there is fresh tiles to choose from. Thanks again! Robin

Thanks so much Cali. My students make teaching fun and the joy on folks faces when their perfect tiles pops out of the molds never gets old. As I always say "the mold and the mallette do all the work" (and of course hitting something...More
