Each day (except when it's pouring), my dog and I set out for the community forest which is a 10 minute walk from home. I never get over how lucky I am to be able to do this. Being in this forest is an instant perspective adjustment. All nonsense and busy-ness fad away as one tunes into the quiet and... More

Loved this hike. Well marked trails. Take a photo of the trail map at the start since they didn't have maps to take with you. Lots of trail choices.

If you want a quck hike in the Redwoods that is accessible from Humbolt State University, this is a great place. The trails are well cleared and the forest is beautiful. It's interesting to notice the suburban houses bordering the park, but that can't be helped.

Pretty redwoods right near the city. I love jogging there on the numerous paths. Great place for walking or running as long as you're OK with hills. Or I took my dad there to drink our milkshakes in a beautiful forest location without getting out of the car. Very convenient nearby location.

This would be a excellent rating but for the fact that there are so many homeless living in the stumps of these forest giants and leaving their trash along the trails. Don't misunderstand, this forest is beautiful with very large redwoods, beautiful ferns, moss and wildflowers but the city really needs to stop overnight camping to make this park safe... More

This place is fantastic - it's a miniature redwood grove right in the center of Arcata. We parked and went for a walk - it's was nice and relaxing.

Big green canopy of huge redwood trees without a lot of undergrowth and we'll maintained trails. This is one of the places I take out of towners as it's easily acessible, right in town and beautiful any time of year.

The community forest is over 2,000 acres. It has many miles of nice hiking trails. Some for hikers only while other have mountain bikes and horses. Most of it is a beautiful redwood forest. I lived on one side of town and walked the part of the trail near there. Now I live in a different part of town and... More
