I hike regularly every week but usually have to drive one hour north or south of Eureka for the magestic redwood forest. Arcata community Forest is just as impressive, plus conveniently located a stone throw away from town.

Nice surprise. Great scenery in town. We stayed in a home on Union near by. I actually enjoyed city Redwood parks as much or more than the forests.

Easy to access with beautiful trails and just amazing old trees. And it is dog friendly (but keep your pooch on leash).

Arcata embodies everything great about California, and this wonderfully preserved patch of Redwoods is a big part of that for me anytime I'm in the area. I love taking my dog through the trails, and we usually encounter other friendly dogs(and humans) along the way....More

We hiked in the area and really enjoyed the old trees and peacefulness of the area. There were horses, bikes and other hikers but it was not disturbing. Truly a jewel of Arcata.
