We went to Wright's Field to take family pictures with a professional photographer. The terrain was great and there are all kinds of different backdrops for great photo opportunities. The photos turned out great and we have received a lot of wonderful comments on them...More

Close to town. Great for walking a dog or a nice stroll. Can get warm in the summer and worth watching for snakes, but that's true of all of San Diego County. Nice way to spend a leisurely hour or so.

This place is bigger than you think. The flat area visible from South Grade Road is just a part of this varied ecosystem. You will see different plants in bloom each time you visit, and may see a small falcon hovering over the flat area,...More

This is a pleasant to visit nature reserve near Alpine. You can observe here many species of birds and plants. Native grasses dominate. We were lucky to come here after some serious rainy weather and after the resolution of drought so everything was in bloom....More

Nature walks. Different types of plant life and vegetation. Great place to enjoy the back area of Alpine. Always something different to see, courtesy of mother nature.

This is one of the few natural grasslands in San Diego region. I absolutely love the fact that I got lost in Alpine, cute little town and this was a joy to walk around in! Will certainly stop by for a short hike again :)

This was very hard to find and it took me two attempts. Not sure why a trail must be kept as such a secret? Not sure it was worth the pain and effort? This is flat, easy and a good way to get started with...More

For 14 years I have walked in Wright's field. It is one of the last grassland areas in California and it is beautiful. The backcountry land trust in Alpine owns much of the land and does a great job presenting eduction like activities during the...More

Due to the recent heat I hadn't been out hiking very much but today near sunset I headed to wright's field for a short walk. Over the years we have walked, ran, and biked numerous miles in this great field. There is usually a breeze...More

Wright field is a small (230 acre) grassland area behind alpine. Not many people come here because even most alpine residents don't know it's there. It's protected by a small group of volunteers called the Back Country Land Trust, who have maintained it as one...More

I believe it is open for use from sunrise to sunset. the parking is usually on the street outside of the fence. there is no "lock" on the fence, just walk around it.
