This is just a short tunnel, but it highlights some of the history of Alameda. Alameda wasn't always an island. It was originally a peninsula and an amusement area. The transcontinental railroad originally ended in Alameda. Over time dredging and landfill changed the shape and...More

Always backed up. Wouldn’t want to be in it during a shaker. With new housing on the island it is only going to get worse. Great place to visit or live.

I note that people are calling this perfectly good tunnel as one of Alameda's attractions. I guess it could be if tunnels are your thing. Otherwise it is just a wholly functional "tunnel".

This was a tunnel from Alameda Island to Oakland. It was nothing special but still somewhat interesting.

I was a resident of Alameda, until very recently and, drove to Oakland, very often by way of the Posey Tube. I always felt a special feeling for the Posey Tube and find it easy to say, it is one more landmark, for Alamed to...More

Having grown up in Alameda, I've always considered the Tube a way from Point A to Point B, and my last choice for getting out of town. Three bridges and the Tube all lead to Oakland; I prefer to stay above-ground when possible. I never...More
