Do not miss this beautiful, historical church! Dedicated in 1902, the church is basilica type architecture of native sandstone quarried from the hill of its location. It is famous for it's original gold-leaf murals by German artist Fridolin Fuchs, and its stained glass windows by Emil Frei of St. Louis. It is open to the public during the day (8... More

I attended the St. Mary's Catholic school in the last of the few years it was offered. It was definitely the best experience of my childhood school days, what an honor it was to have gotten blessed with the experience.

I can't review the church itself, but the view from out side is very nice, it is well worth the few minutes to stop and look. It is off the main road, but from the church parking lot you can see for miles.

We just happened upon this church and the spectacular view from the hill top across the valley. Very peaceful and restful. My wife enjoyed taking pictures of the surrounding area and it was perfectly located between the multiple wineries we visited.

What a beautiful site for a beautiful church! The view was amazing! While we didn't go inside the church, the exterior was very eye catching from the road. We pulled in to admire the exterior when the view caught our eye.

St. Mary's Catholic Church is a beautiful structure atop St. Mary's Mountain. Worth the time to look at the building and to take in the view from the south side of the church. Quite inspiring for this flat lander.

St Mary's church sits atop a hill in Altus and has a commanding view of the river valley below. The church is from the 1880s and is quite stunning. My great Aunt who lived in Altus used to talk about the beautiful bells from the church she listened to her whole life in Altus. It's on the way to all... More

Older Catholic church off the beaten path. I've been on many different occasions and each time it impresses me with its beauty and peacefulness. The longer you walk around or sit and let your eyes wander around the more beauty you see and feel. it's a must visit if your touring the local wineries.

I found this church on our way across route 66. It is worth the stop to see. A german church with an outstanding organ, and gold decorations. The artwork is amazing.
