Little River Park is open and things are going great. We need lots of visitors to help come and enjoy the newly opened camping, swimming, fishing, etc. areas and spread the word about how nice it is to have a park back open in Monroe/Escambia county!!

Little River State Forest is a great getaway for the family. Camping, swimming, playground for the kids, hiking trails, it has it all. The rv campsites and bath houses need improving and from what I hear will be if the recreation area stays open which will make the park perfect. I saw a review saying that the view on the Bell Trail is a clay pit. Don't believe it. Turn around 180-degrees and you'll see the view.

My family and I stayed a few nights in the trailers they have at the park. For fema trailers, they were pretty nice. The only issue th at we had is that while taking showers the water would go up over the edge of the shower floor and flood the bathroom! Thank god we brought lots of towels! We were told the reason it happens is because they are handicapped accessible and the trailers are starting to become unlevel. The receptionist said they need repairs. But other than the shower mishap the park itself was really nice. They have grills and firepits, a playground for kids, rowboats and pedal boats and restrooms. A snack machine is located inside the restroom building. *A helpful tip*, if you're staying in the trailers they don't supply any toiletries or linens and the don't have a tv, you have to bring everything you need from home, but there is a full size fridge and microwave and a stove.

This park, formerly known as Claude D Kelley State Park, is a nice weekend getaway in the piney woods of south Alabama. You can arrive any time you want, they don't have a gate. Tent camping is cheap,$12 a nite for 5 of us with 2 tents. The park has a nice lake with a spillway you can drive across, there's fishing and swimming, and you can rent a boat, canoe, or paddleboat. If you want to strech your legs, there are hiking trails, but they are not that scenic.
I didn't see the inside of the cabin that they rent, but from what I saw outside, I wouldn't want to stay there (verrry rustic). The building that has the office also contains the restrooms and showers, and are repulsive. The constant roaring that you hear is a nearby natural gas well.

The manager of the park is very helpful. We were renting the cabin and bringing an RV. The Cabin was for my Dad and I wanted to make sure there were no surprises. She was very patient in answering all my emails. The lake is supposed to be good for fishing, but we didn't get any bites. There were paddle boats to rent. There is a swimming area and picnic areas. We had a great weekend.

I hate to inform you again, but this state park is closed again due to no funding. Alot of work has been done to clean up and make it safe to use and on better accommodations. My last visit there was for a baptism. It's such a beautiful place to take your family.

We went for the weekend, it is beautiful!!! We had our on tents just rented a spot for them. It was nice to camp but still have a clean area to shower and go to the restroom. The lady in the front office all though strange was helpful for the most part. They do lock the gates at night, but as soon as we went in the office she gave us a gate code to get in and out. People write reviews and make it sound like you can't get in and out....but you can come and go as you please. I liked the locked gate, keeps all the drunk teenagers out. Overall it was a great place to camp! We went fishing (well tried to fish) no bites. We also went hiking and seen toms of wild life. I plan to go back ASAP as many times as I can!
