I've lived in/around DC for almost 30 years and had never been here. I stumbled across a Groupon for admission and with family visiting, it seemed like a great way to spend the afternoon. (even without the Groupon, it's not expensive.) We were not disappointed....More

Visiting the cottage has been on my wish list for years. I used a Groupon to take some out of town visitors. I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the display in the visitor center and the tour by Ashley was excellent. I was particularly touched...More

I went to see Lincoln's cottage without knowing anything about it. I learned a few things about DC during Lincoln's time from the exhibit in the visitor center. The tour of the cottage was disappointing -- as other reviewers have pointed out, the rooms were...More

President Lincoln and his family spent summers in this unique "cottage" on the grounds of the first National Cemetery. The tour focuses on how Lincoln's ideas were formed and implemented not about the structure, furnishings. It gives one food for thought as you hear how...More

Makes you feel so wonderful to see just how he lived in his time. He was an amazing president in his time.

We live in the area, and have been meaning for years to make this visit. Fantastic! Great visitors center with friendly staff, informative displays, and wonderful use of technology to present historical photos and exhibits. The tour of the historic cottage was interactive, and quite...More

I lived in DC for 15 years, and I have visited multiple times since. But I had never been to Lincoln's summer cottage, from which he commuted daily to the White House over the course of some of the most consequential years of his presidency....More

Visited today on Presidents' Day and what a perfect place to go. You can get tickets (15.00/person)for a timed guided tour which we loved. The historian phoebe was so interesting we would not have minded going through all thirty four rooms. Ample parking. You can...More

If you are in DC and see Ford's Theatre and the Lincoln Memorial, you should see the cottage to learn more about Lincoln and his family life. The tour is not like other presidential homes as there is no original or period furniture. The very...More

To see the house, you have to be on a tour, which takes about an hour (although with questions, can run a bit longer). The visitor's center has a few small exhibits and a gift shop. Two hours will do it. It's a fantastic... More

Is this site accessible for an older person who cannot walk long distances? Is there a place to drop someone off near the cottage, or must she walk from the parking lot? Thanks.

The parking lot is very close to the Visitors Center, where you are required to start. Then you must cross the street and walk a short distance to see the cottage. You do have to walk up one flight of stairs inside; if that... More
