It is far from the National Mall, but it is something every history lover should visit. It tells the stories of Lincoln that is seldom heard anywhere else. The tour guide was an amazing and fun lady named Diana who made the visit fun. Please...More

Great cities have major and often crowded tourist attractions. And thankfully, a hidden gem or two. The Lincoln Summer Cottage is that gem. My wife and I are knowledgeable, curious and needed a relaxed activity on Mother’s Day. Friends had urged us to visit the...More

This place is amazing! Most folks familiar with the Capital that I know had not heard of Lincoln’s Cottage. It is so worth the extra Metro transfers to get here. Our guide, Melyssa, provided a captivating narrative on this tour. Brought history to life. HIGHLY...More

This felt like discovering a whole other part of DC. It is off the beaten path so it felt intimate - very unusual for a place with so much historical significance in DC. Our tour guide was fantastic, which made the experience outstanding. Highly recommend.

This has always been on my bucket list - to see the place where A. Lincoln spent a lot of his time outside of the White House. I was surprised that the house wasn’t furnished, as many of other historic homes are, but that actually...More

Mom and I went here on a Wednesday afternoon in DC. Location is good if you have a car - they have parking, but not metro accessible. Gift shop is cute, staff is really nice. Our tour guide (I believe his name was Kevin) was...More

This was an extremely moving & though-provoking tour! As stated by our superb guide, Ashlee, this is not your usual historic house tour...this is a house of ideas. Visitors are asked -- but not pressured -- to engage in conversations & discussions, & sometimes simply...More

Escaping the heat and disease of Civil War Washington, President Lincoln spent 3 summers here in the large (34 room) "cottage" in the hills overlooking the city. The building isn't heavily decorated with furniture and artifacts. but the tour focuses on Lincoln's thoughts and ideas,...More

You can see the house from the gate. Not sure if you can pass through after hours.

To see the house, you have to be on a tour, which takes about an hour (although with questions, can run a bit longer). The visitor's center has a few small exhibits and a gift shop. Two hours will do it. It's a fantastic... More
