The big screen and sound are suited for a musical like LaLa Land, which i enjoyed. The theater was clean, very comfortable seats, and the rest room tidy. The neighborhood is ideal if you wish to eat or just stroll a while beforehand or afterwards. The theater has a historic designation rightfully so since the 1920s or so style is... More

Great classic theatre. Saw Rogue One, HUGE screen, great sound, great way to experience a movie like this. Sat upstairs, the seats are a little cramped and I think the lower level seats are more comfortable. Popcorn is good too.

We love that this theatre is in the heart of Cleveland Park. We love that is it old school. At times, we wish the chairs were more comfortable, and that we could reserve seats, but the Uptown seems to be more our speed than the multiplex. Be warned it is not the same experience. If you require a lazy boy... More

This neighborhood theatre is a landmark of Washington DC and very well known in Cleveland Park. If you are visiting D.C. And you love old theatres, then this is a must.

The Uptown is a classic theater in operation since 1936. It is in Cleveland Park right at a Metro stop on the red line, but we often walk there from our house. We booked the tickets online and whisked into the theater. The theater looked fresher than on a visit last winter. We found the seats comfortable and spaced well.... More

This was my first time watching a movie in DC. Uptown offers a different movie experience than the multiplexes. With one screen and regular seating, you are likely to be less comfortable. The benefit was that it was uncrowded and there was no line at the concession stand. I also liked that you could add as much butter to your... More

We recently saw "Southside with You" at the Loews Uptown Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The theatre has all the bells and whistles of classic "old school" movie theatre. The staff was wicked friendly and the seats are very comfortable. I highly recommend seeing a movie here!

This is our 'go to' theatre for movie night. The seats are comfortable - not super luxurious - but good enough. The screen is huge. Lots of locals can be found here which says a lot. The only drawback is with the sound. We recently saw Captain America Civil War and parts of the movie were really hard to hear.... More

The biggest screen in the DC area harking back to the days of Cinemascope if not earlier. If there is a big blockbuster out, this is the place to see it. The screen actually curves that's how big it is. The theater can now play 3D as well as regular versions of the same movie. Saw the original Star Wars... More

We walked to the Uptown on a Sunday afternoon to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It is the last of the big screen theaters and is showing its age. It looks and feels old. There were almost endless previews before the movie. We hope the theatre can be spruced up a bit and can feel a little younger going... More
