Everything from paintings to sculptures. From very early pieces to somewhat modern. Like the fact that you can get up close and look. Not touch, but look. If you like art in any way, you will not be disappointed.

With most museums closing in late afternoon, this museum is something special for the American history buff who is ready to keep on going after 5:00 pm.

Another wonderful Smithsonian Museum. We were treated to beautiful works of art. It was especially enjoyable because it wasn't crowded and there were few young kids inside. It's definitely a museum that takes a full day or more to see.

I think 2-3 hours should be enough to get a good sense of the art collection and to wander around this great building.
