We travel all around Europe looking at cathedrals and sometimes forget that there are gorgeous churches and cathedrals in the US as well. This basilica is an example of a gorgeous church in America and should be on every cathedral lover's list. It's a very special place.

This place is truly breathtaking, no matter what your religious denomination is. If you have a chance to attend a mass, the acoustics are great. Don't forget to take a peak and savor the outside grounds - they are well manicured and peaceful. Would advise in signing up and taking the tour.

Attended high mass at 12 on the Sunday after the Pope, no words to explain.. I feel this is a must for any denomination. Plan on spending time to visit each shrine.

The Basilica is very Grand and impressive. My family and I worship there on Sundays. It is well worth the time to take the tour. The Basilica offers many sevices through out the week and on weekends. there is a time for everyone for everyone.

The ground are beautiful and inside it breathtaking. We went the Catholic University Law School Graduation there and the acoustics are nice.

just puts life in perspective...the Shrine and Catholic University are worth the short drive from downtown...do this at least once in your lifetime!

This is a magnificent and spiritual home to Christians, even if you're not a member of the Catholic faith. It's a must see in the DC area.

This outstanding house of worship is not to be missed, especially at the Sunday 12 noon Mass when the choir sings, about as close to heaven as you can get in DC!

This is right up there with the grand cathedrals of Europe in both scale and beauty - although obviously more modern. It's also very unusual in that it is a 2-story church. You can't believe how big it is. The art is gorgeous.

My mom and I visited the basilica this summer and I was sorry to have waited so long. It's truly an amazing place to see, especially in the U.S. where fabulous churches are just not really our bag. Definitely make time to take a tour, I think we got a lot more out of the experience having done so.
