Overview
More
The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

This is the heart of America's government! The nucleus from which our country functions. One of the most recognizable pieces of architecture on the face of planet; full of compelling history and a beehive of activity (when Congress is in session). When possible, book in...More

We were given headsets that enabled us to hear the tour guide without having to get up close to hear. I was surprised to see a statue of Rosa Parks in there.

The Capital from the outside is great to see but take the free tour to see the inside. Though I can't rate the free tour as fantastic it does give you a chance to see the inside, many statues and artwork and a few fun...More

You start with a film and move with a guide to the rotunda. I am impressed by how efficiently they move so many people through on the tour. At the same time, there is hardly time to really see everything. You are in small groups,...More

The capitol is all it represents. We did see the movie on a tour and visited the rooms we were allowed to go into on the tour. Was absolutely worth the tour and one of the highlights - as we felt so humble and so...More

Anyone visiting D.C. must visit the U.S. Capitol and take the half-hour free tour offered in the visitors center, the building is beautiful inside and outside.

You need to arrive about half hour before the tour starts. Tour is about a hour long. I believe that the tours run Monday thru Saturday only. Make sure you go through your congress rep for tickets.
