Always a wonderful place to spend your time here. There is a special exhibition going on currently, "Gauguin to Picasso, Masterworks from Switzerland" which is really a must-see. On Sunday afternoons, there are classical concerts in the art-filled Music Room (suggest booking them in advance). Since the holiday season is coming upon us, I would suggest looking for your gifts... More

Many art galleries are overwhelming because they are so big. Not the Phillips! We were able to walk through the whole collection in two hours. Of course, we could have spent longer, but our parking spot was only for two hours. There are some incredible artworks here. High on the list is the Renoir which was just stunning. There is... More

The Phillips Collection was founded by Duncan and Marjorie A. Phillips in 1921. It is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C This museum is simply outstanding. Small private collection, extremely well presented including American artists like Helen Turner, Hopper, John Henry Twachtman and contemporary and modern art including Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Cezanne, Renoir, many others. The newly... More

Only thing I can compare this to is the wonderful Barnes Collection in Philadelphia. Wonderful, manageable collection in DC and a must-visit gallery. Helpful staff. Commentary available on your own cell phones if you wish. One of those museums with a lot of rooms and sometimes hard to know which path to take but more than worth it. Don't miss... More

This first museum of modern art in America began in 1920 in Duncan Philips’ Georgian revival brownstone, but has seen expansions and additions through 2006. The result is somewhat of a rabbit warren to negotiate. However, it rewards your efforts with outstanding art. Permanent holdings of more than 3000 pieces date from the late 19th century to the present. A... More

Really great modern art museum. Special shows are always very well done and the permanent collection is well worth seeing again and again. Tour the house if you have time.

We've been members for years and are never disappointed. We love the permanent collection and the installations they bring in. Focused on late 1800s to contemporary work. Beautiful building in a great neighborhood for wandering around. They bring in excellent musicians for recitals; nice cafe & gift shop. Last visit was a great photography exhibit from their permanent collection for... More

The Phillips Collection is a gem in Washington, D.C. Well worth finding. A perusal of the Collection's website will let give you hint of the treasures in store... Gaugin to Picasso. As a visitor from Hawaii, I held my breath when we came across a rare Jean Charlot work. Worth the visit!

This museum was simply outstanding. Who knew... contemporary and modern art including Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Cezanne, Renoir, many others. A magnificent estate near DuPont Circle that is well laid out. Definitely going back again.
