Not only are the paintings wonderful, but the brief descriptions about the person(s) portrayed are useful for those of us who need the occasional history lesson. I'm glad we took the time to go through the entire gallery.

The Portrait Gallery (along with the Museum of American Art) is a Smithsonian gem, but not on the Mall, so not always a "destination:". I drop in often when I am in the area, usually once every month or two. There is always something interesting...More

I was at a huge party at the gallery. We loved it. The acoustics were great for the band. And while the atrium is several stories high it felt comfortable and not overwhelming. We had access to the gallery during the party and people were...More

SORRY-- I haven't visited the National Portrait Gallery, since my last review; so I can't tell whether the website is correct.

At the National Portrait Gallery you show up at the appointed time for walkin tours. Meet behind the information desk on the F Street side of the building. Enjoy.
