The National Mall is a great way to exercise and see the Washington Monument, the Capitol, and most of the Smithsonian museums. Wear comfortable shoes; you will walk alot. You can take the Metro's silver line Smithsonian exit to travel directly to the Mall.

Scenic walk to Lincoln memorial or WW2 memorial. Nice for biking or Segway along the trial. Ducks and garden and tamest squirrels I've ever seen. They beg for you to feed them. The kids enjoyed it.

There's just so much to the Mall. The Washington Monument, Reflecting Pool, Lincoln Memorial, it's a beautiful and dense collection of history. Photo opportunities abound and it's a great place to walk or run. Take it all in.

Forget Central Park or Hyde park or parks in Paris or Vienna this is sublime. It's so easy to walk from the Lincoln memorial right up to the capital building. The water, the trees, the surrounding architecture. My favourite city!

Any one living in or near the National Mall is very fortunate to have such a beautiful outpouring of respect to our Founding Fathers, Veterans, and those who have shaped our country. A truly spiritual experience!

This is what most people associate with DC. Quite e nice (and long!) walk from the Capitol to the Lincoln memorial. WWII memorial and smithsonian museums also not to be missed.
