Not much to see in the Winter, but a great place to walk during the night

Although this was the year the blossoms seemed frozen in time, we were told the Jefferson Memorial was a must see. We could accept the demise of the cherry trees; however, the memorial's lack of care seemed unpatriotic. A minimal landscaping update and powerwashing of the memorial might begin to show this landmark the respect it so rightly deserves.

I visited in December so I was unable to see the Cherry Blossoms in action. However it is such a pleasant walk around the monuments. The only minor complaint I have is that during the winter, the paths were hard to find and at times I had to climb over hills and dirt to get to where I needed to... More

Surprisingly I was uneasy on the basin boat. However, great to experience at least once as you peddle to the MLK memorial and Jefferson memorial. Exquisite during the cherry blossom timeframe.

We walked half way around the basin to see the cherry blossoms and the Jefferson Memorial. There are some great photo ops on this route since you are opposite the memorial and the cherry blossoms frame your photos. Since we had already toured a museum that day, we were pretty tired and did not make the full walk around to... More

What a beautiful walk around the tidal basin. Despite the fact that the cherry blossoms were a bust on 3/18 it was still a lovely scene with the monuments, water and trees.

The Tidal Basin is good size - pedal boats can be rented in good weather. The Jefferson Memorial is at one end and the rest of the basin is surrounded by cherry blossom trees. There is a path around the basin with some tents and booths with food, goods, and services. Adjacent the National Mall.

It’s a beautiful and relaxing place to visit while touring the monuments and memorials especially with the Cherry Blossoms. In the warmer weather you can rent paddle boats located near the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

You do not realize how large the area is until you walk from the Jefferson to MLK memorial. The view is beautiful. We want to return to see the cherry blossoms since they were damaged this year by the snow. Hope things improve as the cherry blossom festival starts this weekend.

Only at the Tidal Basin do you release how large the whole area with monuments really is. It als provides a great view of the area.
