It's just hard to think about were all those names came from. How they ended up on that wall and what the country must have been like during the Vietnam War. It's an extremely moving place to be, particularly when you see items such as badges, letters or gifts left for loved ones.

All of these memorials are overwhelming what is this is for when my friends we're the ones going and especially moves me. I have to say that it's too long and too many names. It was senseless and I lost a friend Stewart Robbins Moody. 15 w 122

Having been a teenager during this war, it does bring back a lot of memories of that time in our history. The thousands of names listed are what get me the most. So sad.

Those of us who grew up during the Vietnam War the sight of the memorial is overwhelming and so sad. So many names and each one represents someone who died in Vietnam. It puts a face on the number of deaths that were broadcast to us each night on the news. Now only 275 killed this week, I always hated... More

This is one of the most touching memorials in D.C. It brings to life the enormity of lives lost in Vietnam in pure visual form

The Vietnam veterans memorial is great for anyone, but especially for people who had loved ones die in Vietnam as so many of us did. The wall is such a way to touch your heart, and it's a lasting touch. The wall makes you appreciate living in the freest country in the world. Everyone owes it to themselves to go... More

Who doesn't know of this war, a war not won. The loss of so many soldiers, fathers, relatives, friends in a place not many people even knew existed at the beginning. The war no one wanted , protested against, despised. Soldiers coming home to loathing of their country. Mostly left abandoned, by their country to fight this war over and... More

The Vietnam memorial is filled with the names of those who paid the ultimate price for their country. Very sobering.

I am always saddened by the staggering number of names on the wall. There were Park Rangers and volunteers to help you find a name if you know someone.
