Type of visit --Family with adults The Jefferson library, the Gutenberg Bible, and the Mains Bible themselves are worth the visit. A stunningly beautiful building, it may be teaming with tourists and school groups. However, one may access the Reading Room by obtaining a library card at the Madison Building--a process that takes about 20 minutes. The Library of Congress... More

There is so much to see and do in Washington but put this on the top of the list. The history, the beauty, really worth your time. Most wonderful exhibition of photos and early New York life for immigrants, very well done. Jefferson library also very interesting, especially as we went on to Jefferson University.

I absolutely love the library of congress. It is historic, beautiful and captivating. It never gets terribly packed. The front of the building is gorgeous and great for pictures.

When we first visited DC in 1991, we could not tour the Library of Congress because it was undergoing restoration. It was so nice to see how beautifully it has been restored. Our tour was scheduled through our Senator's office, but public tours are available without a reservation and I don't think there is a difference.

The LOC or Library of Congress is the most gorgeous, most impressive building in DC! If you were planning on visiting the Capitol building, you're super close, plan on going on to the LOC. You will experience the splendor of a building designed to be like one similar to the great architecture found in Europe. There are permanent exhibits like... More

This place is a showpiece! It's not a library as much as it's a repository of all sorts of artifacts. The building is magnificent with incredible architecture and artwork. This exhibits will delight historians as well as those just getting started. Plan to do lots of walking. It's not well suited to small children. Be sure to see Jefferson's first... More

My favorite thing I did on the first day. The building itself is just beautiful and the exhibits are wonderful. Definitely check out the Jefferson library in there!

This building is incredible! I highly recommend a tour, our guide was really good. It's just so beautiful inside. I loved hearing about the Jefferson Library and why/how the Library of Congress was created. All subjects are considered at equal importance. All people may use the library. Highly recommend this one!

Particularly wanted to see this attraction and enjoyed the exhibitions within the library as well. The exhibition of the pioneering work of Jacob Riis about the poor people of New York city and how they lived in the late 1800's was particularly good.

We enjoyed touring the Library of Congress more than we enjoyed the Capitol! It's a beautiful building with so much history. It's definitely worth the trip.
