The location on the water is probably the best of all the monuments in Washington, DC. I can see where the University gets it's architectural designs from.

Underneath is a gift shop which has some of the cheapest fridge magnets in the entire city. There are plenty of steps to sit on and admire the view across the tidal basin.

Night time viewing of the architecture is breathtaking as it highlights the dome of the building. Beautiful view from across the Tidal Basin. Another must-see!

This had one of the few working elevators in DC. But you have to walk up to ride down to the rest rooms. Hey, I didn't design it. Nice open place,
