Spectacular and safe in reasonable weather.

We drove down the dugway. We were advised by a ranger at the Natural Bridges visitor centre that we should have no problems with the drive – and we didn’t. The driver does have to... read more

The drive is very safe (under normal weather conditions and following the traffic signs), it provides amazing views and few places where you can stop to enjoy the view. Dont rush, drive slowly and enjoy the view!

We drove down the dugway. We were advised by a ranger at the Natural Bridges visitor centre that we should have no problems with the drive – and we didn’t. The driver does have to keep eyes on the road at all times so can only enjoy the views from the several viewing areas en route. Apparently the drive is... More

When I say you have to drive this it's not out of desire, it's because you really have to! If you're on this highway it just turns into this narrow dirt road down the side of this cliff. There's no getting around it. I thought it was cool. My wife couldn't look. It was freaking her out. The road is... More

Not as scary as is often mentioned. Loose gravel surface is OK, and providing you are careful, it is not a problem

Supposedly a scary drive, but we (driver and front passenger, both with fear of heights) did not find it so; just take your time. Car is ok, no need for 4-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle. Don't know what happens to the road when raining. It starts on paved road but becomes gravel. Hubby watched youtube videos of drivers driving... More

This is a great 3 mile scenic drive to get to the natural bridge's. Drove up it then back down a few hours later. Stopped frequently and got some great pictures. Not very well advertised but a great drive, don't do it in the wet as its 3 miles of gravel.

...is 15mph. Washboard, big time. Not as nerve-wracking as I expected it to be. Crossing the Rockies on 50 was worse. I mean, when two soccermoms go by in a mini-van, it's not that bad. No the special trip I thought it would be, but the view from the top is awesome.

Traveling from Natural Bridges to Monument Valley, takes you through the Moki Dugway dirt road comprised of switchbacks to get you down into the valley. The road is well maintained. The traffic was light the day I drove the dirt road and the weather was great so I had no driving issues. There are only a couple of blind turns... More

I was innocently following the route that google maps had shown me from Natural Bridges to Monument Valley when I started to see warning signs for a section of road with 10% incline, narrow switchbacks and gravel. I had been expecting regular highway but as it was dry and I was in a 4WD vehicle I held on to me... More

If you don't like heights, especially while driving challenging roads, don't do this! But for me, a nice surprise. Husband insisted I drive the whole trip and that I did! Nailing this road from end to end was incredible with continual winding switchbacks, narrow pathways, steep dropoffs without guard rails and more! Fabulous views, if you dare to glance and... More
