Took a day trip out from Houston. It was stunning. Took a hike to the top of old baldy summit followed by a float down the frio river. Will be going back on a regular basis!

We have been coming here for years, now we have two small children and got to bring them. Our 2 year old loves it (the other is only a month old)! She gets to play with rocks and beautiful stream. This place is magical!

We all have yearly passes to Texas State Parks so we had not been to Garner state park in several years so the weather Sat. 9/9 was perfect for a nice motorcycle ride and after breakfast in Con Can we decided to follow the Frio...More

Nice state park, lots of trails to hike especially along the river. Our two grandkids really enjoyed themselves nice campsites down where the big trees are sadly you can't reserve specific sites online so it creates a check in headache during peak season.

Nothing to do. Was not interested in the water. Where we went, we were at the edge of the park. Only one readily accessible geocache. Blistering heat made it a pain to walk where there was no shade. Ice cream/gelato place we went to had...More

What a poorly run state park. We waited 4 hours just to get checked in on a Sunday afternoon. We made reservations online so I don't understand the reason for the ridiculous delays in getting checked in. There were guests sitting around everyone waiting for...More

Arrived when it opened, got a great spot, and enjoyed the river (not as frio as normal) and hiking. Kiddos spent several hours enjoying the sun. Tips: Arrive early before the lines form and to claim a good spot and go during a week day...More

We bring our kids here every summer to continue the tradition of my husband's childhood. The Frio River is always so clean and clear and cold! The nightly evening dances are a favorite for the kids and anyone who likes to dance to country music.

Like so many others who have added reviews, my experience was a two-edged sword. On one hand the nature and beauty of the place is breathtaking but on the other the human factor is a total drag. To begin with the wife and I arrived...More
