Awesome, quiet place to be. Very close to Emerald Isle but tucked away in nature. Helpful, friendly hosts, clean bathrooms, large paved sites. Awesome long nature trail with bridges and boardwalks over the marsh. Lots of wildlife. This was our first time here. We stayed at Flanners beach last time. We will be back to this park again.

Sites are spacious. Paved pads are extra wide. Drinking water at entry. Electricity at every site. Dump station. Secluded sites. First season open after refurbishing. Definitely a good place to stay.

I camped here while attending a family reunion at Atlantic Beach. The campground was clean and the hosts were welcoming and helpful. The campground caters to RV campers but tent-campers are welcome. Since I spent most of my time at family reunion activities on the island and was only at my campsite to sleep, I regret not offering to share... More

Stayed 10 days in June 2015. Campsite was remodeled because of sewer. Site was changed without notice. Host was rude from check in till check out. host harressed my two grandsons because of their grand daughters. Bath house was never cleaned properly. One shower had a big wad of hair in the floor and it stayed there. Left after 10... More

Flanners Campground, our site was peaceful and the available showers were handy. There was warm water and overall fairly clean for a national park. We did not bring firewood, I typically do not because of transferring a possible disease . We had a hard time finding older wood, not sure what would be a solution.

I would not stay in this park if you let me in for free. I believe the Government ran out of money right at Hwy 109. Dirt roads to the camp ground are horrible what happened to tar roads in NC people. We get there the sites are not as spread out as they appear on the map they are... More

We birded from roads mostly in the vicinity of Havelock, and along a nature trail. We found Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Bachman's Sparrow and Brown-headed Nuthatch as well as Blue Grosbeak, many Great-crested Flycatchers and many more species. Insects were few. This is a good area for birding. Some of the roads badly need grading.

We always camp at Flanners beach all the time.... The one time we get site 38-40 is terrible... They need to move the dumpster somewhere else. This camping trip was so horrible, nasty gross. Too many flies.... They need to maintain the park more and move the trash dumpster somewhere away for the campsite!!!!!!

Primitive, beautiful on the Newport R. 16 sites, vault toilets all well maintained. Stayed 4 nights with no complaints. Had a wonderful breeze off the water which kept the bugs down to near zero. I have a hunch that, without the wind, that could be a problem.

Nicely laid out with 40 concrete pads. Has 20/30/50 amp at each site. No on-site sewage dump. 14 day limit. Very clean bath/shower centrally located. Fenced area for children to play. Less than 1/4 mile from marked hiking trail, boat/kayak launch. 1-1/4 mile from major shopping center. Can be slightly noisy during occasional artillery firing at close by USMC Camp... More
