My husband stayed here on business and he was so impressed that he wanted to show it to me. We have been to NY many times so we are always looking for a new experience. It is a very quaint area with lots of boutique shops and restaurants under the Brooklyn bridge. There is some construction in the area but... More

This is a wonderful base area for the older traveler, even though it's a neighborhood full of young people. You can roam about by day to all of New York easily via subway (or walking, or hop on/hop off) and then come to a very walkable, friendly, safe neighborhood full of happy hour food and drink and go to your... Have been here 2 or 3 times in the past and always liked it and this time was no different, but its clear that a lot of work has gone into repair the storm damage and there is still a way to go, but still well worth a visit! We have ferry tickets and so had lunch in the Smorgasburg,... More

used to be a better area but with the ongoing construction to rebuild after Sandy it takes away from the charm of that area

Seaport mall is closed. But you have the smorgasbord and it offered an array of comfort foods and drinks. Had a great time.

The blend of old and new here is wonderful. Many buildings have been redone since Hurricane sandy flooded it. It is a fun place to go and remember what a big part of NY history comes from the ports at the waterfront. You can walk or bike ride, wheelchair/stroller friendly, or sit on a bench and what the boats and... More

This area is in progress, but you can read about its fascinating history on the billboards posted there. Definitely worth reading up on its historical significance.

We were around this area for most of one of our days in New York and we really liked it. The small cobbled streets and zillions of bars and eateries make it feel very trendy and upmarket which maybe it is (we didn't check or ask). We got a nice view of the bridge before we went up and walked... More
