Snow shoe or take the Snow Coach your - your choice - but do one of them. Mount Washington in the winter is an entirely different world from summertime hikes. Amazing snowscapes and views.

The road starts great. Wide. Paved. Lots of trees. Then the higher you go you start loosing trees. The road gets narrower and not paved when you get up higher. There is also no protection on the sides like guardrails. We laughed as we started...More

I am so glad we decided to take the cog train up mount Washington. It’s a beautiful ride up and down with beautiful scenery along the way. Once you reach the top, it is mostly cloudy and windy, however it’s beautiful. I love the cog...More

Could not believe the mountain top was CLOSED!! We were there in 70 degree weather last week and they have a policy that closes the auto highway the middle of October regardless of the weather or not. So disappointed, this was our first trip to...More

We went inside the info center for hiking advice, then crossed the road for the walk to Lost Lake. The lake itself was nothing special, but it gave us a good view of Tuckerman’s Ravine and Mt. Washington. Walking along the mountain stream is beautiful...More

I have gone up this mountain by Cog Train and this time was by Auto Road. Certainly was the most harrowing drive I have completed in a long time. There are warning signs everywhere on this. We chose to drive up on the auto roads...More

Get up there by car, tour or cog. Take time up there to enjoy the view. Check the weather first as many days can be cloudy.

Drove up the Auto Road on September 12th - absolutely beautiful blue skies. A windproof coat and hat are a must! The views were amazing...each side of the top has a totally different view. Not a cloud in the sky!

I don't have any info on tours outside of Boston. Driving is a great way to see the foliage. The roads are wide and weren't busy when we went apart from a bank holiday weekend. Personally, would recommend driving.
