The High Falls at Baptism River is an amazing waterfall. We have hiked most of the North Shore State Park Waterfalls and found this to be the most strenuous. It's not difficult terrain so much, but it's up hill and down hill and again and...More

Another fine park along Hwy 61, this one combines shoreline vistas and very nice hikes. Get out there, leave the blasted smartphone at home, and enjoy nature!

We did the High Falls hike (3 miles RT) and the various hikes along Lake Superior and all were fantastic. The hike into the high falls was easy and the views were superb. The bridge across the river above the falls is a must and...More

The Visitor Center at Tettegouche State Park has a nice covered picnic area and leads to some wonderful hiking trails. We hiked to Shovel Point which has amazing lookout spots and views of Lake Superior. It has a lot of steps but is well worth...More

We camped for 2 nights at Baptism River Campground and had a great time. Bathhouse was clean and campsite was very private. Campground has access to trails going to 2 waterfalls so that was convenient not having to drive. The only negative, the flies that...More

We did some hiking at Tettegouche on a recent trip to the North Shore. The hiking was great although it had been rainy and some of the trails were muddy and slippery. The river was running very rapidly and the scenery was incredible. We thoroughly...More

Did some tent camping over the 4th of July, 2017 here. I haven't been to this park in six years or so, but it has been my long time favorite for camping. I used to camp quite a bit at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park,...More

Loved the trails and the falls! Hiked to the lake, and up to the falls. We checked in, then drove "up" to the parking lot closest to the high falls. It was still a healthy walk... but our mission was to see the falls, and...More

This is an easily accessible park with great hikes, however the wonderful newly remodeled visitors center attracts crowds of people that normally wouldn't visit state parks and don't appreciate the outdoors. We witnessed a large group of students from a nearby Ely community college hike...More

We went in the winter time. This is really not the time to do hikes up in northern Minnesota. When we went, there was a lot of ice which meant stairs leading down to some of the trails were icy, difficult, and dangerous.. There were...More

No, it is not easy. If you go in, planning to stay in until your stay is over might be best for young children. If they are old enough to hike a bit that will help, but carrying them may be hard up and down the hills.
