Went today, and experienced the "perfect storm." Sunrise and a rocket launch, just minutes apart.

There are 13 beach areas, with 13 being clothing optional. If you are going to witness a rocket launch, the lower numbered areas are the closest to launch site. Area 1 was closed for boardwalk replacement when we visited though.

Our choice was the clothing optional boardwalk 13. Sadly, i can't post a video of launch here, but it was spectacular!

The park currently opens at 6am, and if you plan on going to see a sunrise, check sunrise times, AND BRING BUG REPELLENT!

There is an admission fee if $20 which is good for 7 days. You can also get an annual pass for $40. Admission is good for ANY Canaveral parks, including Apollo Beach which is around an hour away.

One final piece of advice. Lot 13 is clothing optional at Playalinda. Lot 5 the same at Apollo. Parking is limited at both, more so at Apollo. The areas may or not be for you or your family, so please know before you go!

The price is up to $25 for a weeks worth of entry. Not too expensive if you will be there for a week, pricey just for a day trip. That said the beaches are clean, pit toilets are as clean as a pit toilet can be (ie gross). Went to 13 for full sun exposure. It wasn’t a great beach day so there were not a lot of people there. Very relaxing quiet and enjoyable. As the day went by it started getting a little busier with nicer weather unfortunately I had to leave earlier than I wanted.
People seemed to keep to themselves, not as social as Blind Creek Beach.
Went for several walks throughout the day. This beach is very flat/level compared to Apollo and Blind Creek so it made walking a lot nicer on the knees. The beach is pretty short, it’s only about 1/2 mile down to 12 which is not clothing optional. I wasn’t sure how far north I was allowed to walk. There is a sign for the Klondike trail about 1/2 mile north of 13 entrance. There is a sign saying you need a back country permit to go beyond that point. I read it as dont keep walking so I turned around, I would have liked going further.
13 is by far the busiest beach
Ages were very spread out younger than what seems typical to older which is nice to see.
Overall a pleasant experience. If I go back it would only be for multiple days to take advantage of the $25 entry.

Love bringing my family out to the beach! It was clean and had restrooms. Recommend bringing a cooler because the nearest place to pickup anything is 6miles. On the way out you can see NASA’s VAB building and lots of wildlife around! Peaceful natural beach!

Playalinda Beach has closest viewing of rocket launches without actually going on base. But beware - don't go to Playalinda if there is any type of fog in the area and the launch is early AM. The fog doesn't clear off the beach in time for the launch so you can't see the launch, just hear it. We made that mistake and regretted it. Short time later, we were in Titusville having breakfast and a waitress told me they saw the whole launch from Titusville and it was spectacular. Too bad we missed it.

Today we went to this beach at the Canaveral National Seashore. The gate fee agent did not say anything to us about the nude beaches. Eventually we saw a sign that said, "Warning, You May Encounter Nude Sunbathing Within Boardwalk 13." We parked at Boardwalk 7 after all of the first few parking lots were full. Boardwalk 7 was very full too so we thought we'd drive on to #8, but the road was closed at that point, so we waited for someone to pull out at #7 and parked there. When we got out to the beach there we were shocked to find many nude people walking the beach. There was no warnings that the nudes had taken over the beach at #7, and a young man told us that he had seen them walking clear down to #5. What if we had children with us? It was quite disturbing to my wife. We didn't stay very long because if we looked up from our books in any direction, nude people were walking past. We are not prudes, but either the public should've been warned that the nudes had taken over the other beaches, or the nudes should've been told that they cannot be there unclothed. There is no monitoring of the beaches. So our time there was very upsetting to my wife, and I was upset that she was disturbed. So we would warn you not to take your families to these beaches. We used our national park pass or we would've really been annoyed at having to pay $20 to enter, for such an uncomfortable short visit.

Pros: The beach is gorgeous and not crowded at all. Soft sand, wildlife. The pass is good for 7 days

Cons: We sat in stopped traffic for over 30 minutes to get our pass. Then we struggled to find a parking spot. The bathrooms were dirty unfortunately. The surf was very very strong, much to strong to swim. Obviously for some people this is desirable

This is a great spot if you want to have a great view of the rockets from Kennedy Space Center. It does cost $20 to get into the park, but your ticket is valid for 7 days. It is best to get there early and park in the lots 1-5 and you can go down as far as it's allowed. There are bathrooms at every parking lot but bring lots of water and food as there is no where to buy any. Also, pack an umbrella as you will be exposed to the direct sun.
On a side note, the internet and cell phone coverage can be spotty, so you may or may not be able to track any updates on the rockets.

Nice getaway from the pressures of the world and fear of COVID mongers. First time and though the 30 minute wait time was annoying the beach was worth it. Though there are 13 parking locations and 13 is "clothing optional" I parked in 10 and walked to the furthest point. I realised though that by 11 you will begin to see nude swimmers. People were friendly and though many nude you would see quite a few clothed. Those nude were of all body types. No one cared. Some who were clothed fit in. Regardless of how you feel about being nude, no one really cares. It is like taking a bath in a big pool. Just obey the rules and nothing stupid. Will return often.

Our first visit to Playalinda (nudist beach) and very pleasantly surprised. I have 4 kids under the age of 12 and figured we would be the only family there, but in fact there were several other families with children. Mostly people in their 20-30s but quite a few college age as well. We joined with another family for a picnic lunch and then the kids played together the rest of the day. We'll definitely be back!

We were in the Titusville area for a week taking our oldest to space camp at KSC. One of the staff suggested if we were going to visit a beach to skip Cocoa Beach and instead hit Playalinda - we are so thankful for her tip!

Located on the NASA property, but managed by the National Park Service, it costs $20 to gain access to the beach area. Each beach access point is numbered - we went to number 3 I believe (one of them is clothing optional). This was one of the nicest Florida beaches I have been too! Not crowded, plenty of sand and beach - it was awesome! We only wish we had more time to enjoy it.

Highly recommend! Plus, you can see the launch pads just over the dunes!
