Very scenic with no park guidance at all. We went to about 10,000 feet and really wished we had our jeep from home! Absolutely pristine. A must if you're in the area.

The Arapahoe national forest is huge. Plenty of room for any outdoor activity you can name from an afternoon to a week long backpack.

Decided to drive some unpaved forest roads behind Winter Park Ski Resort. There is some very nice free dispersed camping along the creek I was traveling by. I did have to turn around since road crews were working on the upper reaches (late June 2016) but they should be done by now.

This is a National Forest, so it's great place for going off the beaten track. There are acres and acres that are only available on foot. There are seasonal roads, roads that are only suitable for high-clearance vehicles, and road closures from floods and fires. Be sure to check in on the website for the most up to date information.... There are many beautiful hiking trails here. It is not as busy as going into Rocky Mountain National Park. Locals prefer hiking here as the scenery is lovely and the Park has become very crowded.

The address given is just the office, not the forest. The forest is a natural area and beautiful, especially during the fall when the Aspens turn.

Just south of the touristic and crowded Rocky Mountain NP, this is a big and uncrowded forest with beautiful valleys, mountains and stream. It is ideal for a relaxing weekend of hiking, camping and fishing. There are many spots where the pines are suffering from a natural disease.

We got to explore a couple of different areas in ANF after we learned that the road to Mount Evans was closed. The opportunities for great photographs were plentiful. I felt like every step I took offered a completely different, stunning view.
