My Girlfriend and I started a random road trip when I was forced to take vacation a week earlier than planned. New to me car, new Girlfriend and a love of driving. We filled our tank in Scotia then hit the road about 3 in the afternoon...after about an hour the real excitement began... left right right left up up... More

We left the coastal redwood area to head inland and also ride US50 (The Loneliest Road) in the same day. What a day of contrasts! CA36 is 150 miles of twists, turns, up down. Wonderful on a bike. Since we headed out first thing in the morning, we nearly had the road to ourselves. The few commercial vehicles were great... More

I did not want to take I-80 from Reno, to much traffic. So ... looking on 'the map', I spotted Hwy 36. Figured this would be a bit more scenic. 395 to Susanville, then left on Hwy 36 ... seemed simple enough (on the map) ... how hard can this be? Looked like a nice - peaceful - ride. As... More

Left Eureka for Red Bluff. I thought this looks like a nice road but I have never been on a hundred and thirty miles switch back road awesome scenery if you had the time prepare to make a couple stops as this road will tire you out. You see everything from the coast in Eureka to redwood forest to mountain... More

I definitely believe in god, angels and prayers after my survival of highway 36. As a 70 year old female travelling alone back from California. I contacted AAA to help me prepare a Travel Tic so I could experience a scenic drive on the coast as well as some stints back on I _5. Little did I know highway 36 only... More

i call myself taking a short cut to HSU. I spent 4 hours in that mountain, and the curves and lanes are ONLY for motorcycles, down heal i road my brakes,i got in the passing lanes so that the impatient locals could zoom by at 55mph. Which is entirely to fast. I was informed by my hotel clerk that alot... More

I knew this was going to be an incredible ride when we turned off I-5 onto highway 36 westbound, and the first sign I saw was "Tight Curves- Next 140 miles". The views were incredible, the road in fantastic condition, and no other vehicles to be seen. Lots of wildlife around (watch for deer!). I nearly wore out a set... More
