Perfect trip with our teenager. We wanted to do something where our 15yo would get so bored and complain about walking. Pacific Surfliner from Fullerton took about 2hrs 45mins to get to San Diego Santa Fe Depot which landed us 2 blocks away from USS...More

A nice way to do the San Diego - LA trip if you don't want to deal with the traffic, train is neat and well equipped but it's quite expensive (35$ one way) and you're not allowed if you carry your pet with you unless...More

This was a fun way to go from SD to LA. We had the dome car to enjoy the panoramic views of the coastal areas. We paid the the executive class upgrade which include drink and snacks and was worth it.

Upfront I will admit I am a big fan of train travel. But this year was my first experience of Amtrak after many years of trips through Europe on everything from 300 kph ‘Fast Trains’ to an English Heritage steam train. I did however approach...More

Very spacious business class. Nice snack but they never picked up the remains. It was an hour late on a 100 mile trip. Many stops, issues with other trains. 4 hours from San Diego to LA. Somewhat dirty and cloudy windows. Nice views, first half.

Still confused as to how leaving on time from San Diego ends up being a 1.5 hr delay getting in to L.A. It sure wasn’t weather related nor a mechanical issue.

Hi Jean, no, normally you do not need to change trains. There are 5 trains each day that travel from Ventura down to San Diego. You will love the ocean views!
