If you want an out of the way, way-way-way out in the woods to see something really cool then you need to go to Nelder Grove. It is home of several really big Giant Sequoia’s, one of which is called Bull Buck. It’s the 3rd oldest living thing currently on earth (or so I was told). Over 2700 years old.... More

This grove of giant Sequoia trees is absolutely beautiful and worth the drive. You will be away from the crowds of Yosemite and mostly by yourself. The grove is located up a very windy road off of Highway 49, south of Yosemite. The last mile or two are down a dirt road - if your car doesn't have 4 wheel... More

As Mariposa Grove was closed the works we asked the concierge at our hotel if there was another Sequoia grove we could visit and she suggested Nelder Grove. It was amazing - took half an hour to drive from Fish Camp but well worth the trip. There was only one other car parked in the tiny car park and we... More

A great short hike to see many beautiful big trees! My three year old was able to hike on his own, which was his first time. One mile loop. All shaded. Hidden gem!

small grove of sequoias. so beautiful! As the world changed and fought, they quietly grew in this forest. Very winding road to this grove. Not many signs and easy to miss the turn off because no sign. Last 2 miles of drive into the grove is dusty very narrow gravel road.

Not far from Tenaya Lodge, the giant sequoias and variety of foliage are spectacular. Lots of walking required and a four wheel drive vehicle is necessary of you want to use all of the trails, otherwise, you can park and walk to the remotest trail heads.

Wanted see sequoia since Mariposa Grove closed. BULL Buck tree was worth the short hike. Beware of yellow jacket nest near railing at Bull Buck tree.

This is a nice little 1 mile hike with some mild uphill trails that will provide close ups of some beautiful giant Sequoias. Its not easily found on the map though as it is more well known with the locals.

Yosemite's Sequoia grove is closed and this gives you a chance to see the big trees. Get a map and trust it. There are not many cars on these roads and it's a bit unnerving to think you may get lost. There are two turn offs in and I think the 1st one would be best. Sorry but I don't... More
