Very nice park with plenty of parking. Lovely scenery and lots of spaces by the lake for a picnic. Although there were quite a few people there we found it very peaceful. We actually went back there twice during our visit to lake tahoe.

Ranger was a bit snarky when we asked her about the Dolder nature trail at the entrance. I guess she thought it cute or funny that us elderly folks wanted to go for a walk - oh well. Plenty of parking, picnic tables and a large restroom near walkway to the estate and visitor center. We walked the trail and found it pleasant, just don’t do it in the heat of the day. Nice uncrowded beach here as well.

This is a beautiful park with a lot of lake frontage. There are many shaded picnic spots, lots of benches and a nice swimming beach. Dogs are only allowed on paved path by lake not the unpaved hikes and aren’t allowed on beach. But walk by lake was fun. There are several historic houses you could tour( not open when we were there). This is a great place for a picnic, walk etc.

We were driving around Lake Tahoe (clockwise). We had planned a picnic lunch but had no idea where we would stop along the road. We found Sugar Pine near the north end of the lake, paid our entry fee ($9 for seniors) after we saw that there were many picnic benches and tables at the feet of the tall ponderosa pines. It was a perfect spot for our picnic, very rustic, very peaceful, and just plain wonderful!

We have been visiting Southwest Florida for 40 years.
Every visit we "hike" or stroll the trail from SugarPine Parkside to SugarPine Point.
Have done the tour of the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion many times. The mansion sits atop a ridge overlooking the lake and a pier down below. It is nestled amongst many pine trees. It is a great place to have a picnic.
Highly recommended.

This was our favorite place to visit at the park. The attendant at the park booth said this was her favorite hike by the lake and it didn't disappoint. A great spot for photos. The lighthouse is now an old lighthouse but is a modern light one on a metal stand. The hike still had plenty of great views of the beautiful water and you can see all the color changes if you have a polarizing lens on your camera or just polarized sunglasses for awesome lake colors. Find a place to park by the cross walk follow the signs.

Nice campground.
Big campsites, felt secluded.
Bathrooms were clean and not smelly.
The only ‘con’ is that it is not near a beach, but it’s a very short drive (across the HWY)

This is a nice park for a walk along the water on a paved path, the views are beautiful. The Hellman mansion is also in this park, interesting history, tours in season. Includes an old log cabin built by an early settler to the area, a long pier, swimming beach, picnic tables.

If you are a first time visitor, it might be best to visit during the summer season when you can take advantage of the docent guided tours of the Ehrmann Mansion (Pine Lodge). These tours bring you back in time to the days in which the wealthy or "connected" populated the glamor spots of Tahoe. Today, anyone can enjoy the unique beauty of this charming estate. Once you have oriented yourself to the property, you can take advantage of x-country skiing in the winter, hiking to Meeks Bay in the summer, and just finding this an ideal place for a picnic, a swim or a tranquil setting for reading a book. Sugar Pine Point can be your "anchorage" on Lake Tahoe.
