Silverado is an alternate more rural, yet scenic, route between Calistoga to Napa after you have made your way up through Routes 128/29. Our plan was to spend the day going up 128/29 from Napa to Calistoga and make a casual return to Napa on...More

When traffic on the St Helena Highway, Rt. 29, becomes too heavy consider the picturesque alternative on the eastern side of the valley, the Silverado Trail. Starting from the town of Napa and running north about 27 miles to Calistoga, the leisurely winding road will...More

Once a pleasant quiet trail to varied wineries - found it to be a 55MPH + roadway in a hurry. This on a weekday! Many wineries now requiring appointments and $$ for tastings. Times are a changing!

My wife and I drove the Silverado trail from Napa to Calistoga. It was a nice relaxing drive on a road that wasn't as busy as the main highway thru the valley. Lots of vinyards and wineries along the way

The Silverado Trail parallels Highway 29 the length of Napa Valley from Napa to Calistoga. It is to the east of Highway 29 up in the hills overlooking the valley. Lots of trees and vineyards on both sides of the Silverado Trail. It is the...More

This "back door" drive parallel to the main road through America's premiere wine region from or to Calistoga passes by a constant line of beautiful vineyards and wineries graced with architecturally-spectacular chateaus. There are inviting entrances to most of them for tours, but just motoring...More
