My father, Norm Smith, former goalie from the Detroit Red Wings mailed a post card stamped Unga, Alaska in 1924. I think he worked in the fish business. He might have been in Sand Point but not sure. In 1971 my husband and I lived in Sand Point for 18 months. At that time my husband was in charge of the oil dock for all fishing vessel fuel coming to the island. He was employed by Wakefied Fisheries. We were great explorers and a friend with a fishing vessel took us over to Unga for a day trip.... More
