Being refurbished when we visited but an interesting mix of architecture surrounding the square and a chance to see the somewhat random nature of Cuban retailing. Good for people-watching and car-spotting.

Went on a day out in a 55 Chevron with Leo as our guide who was very entertaining. This area was very busy and there were doing a lot of restoration work.Plenty of bars around. You will be disappointed with the shops, goods not of very good standard.Lots of flea markets all selling the same things.

Highly recommend this place, a public square where you can see the daily cuban business and lives going on. I recommend it particularly at night time with the temperature is fresher. Nice for a night out.

Holguin is really quaint however first impressions are disappointng., There is not much in Holguin, you need to do one of their bike taxies and getting lost to get the feel of the city. It makes me smile as it reminds me of a wild western town with its horse carriages . But bottom line, Holguin in a stepping stone... More

We sat in this park after a walk around Holguin, it was nice to see the local Cuban people relaxing here. Great to sit in the sun and people watch.

We spent about an hour here on a weekday before dinner, my two kids and I. My husband wanted to explore a bit more on foot but the kids were tired, so we settled onto a bench to play cards. We felt completely safe the entire time and enjoyed making what small talk we can in Spanish with friendly locals.... More

This is the small central plaza in this small Holguin Province. It is a paved area with some trees and benches. The square holds a statue of General Calixto Garcia, a revered patriot during Cuba's independence wars. The square is surrounded by retail and cultural establishments. It is a pleasant stroll to walk the square and the shops on its... More
