It was a bit of a climb out of Onetangi to the park but worth it. Beautiful woodland walks of different lengths. Heard plenty of birdsong but did not see many! Some very good views from the top ridge. Make sure you use insect repellent!!...More

This area is a hill covered with forest and a lot of streams. The forest is dense and humid and the trails get really muddy, so hiking boots are recommended. I spent a few hours on Saturday and met only one other person, so definitely...More

Only one walking track, takes about 2 hours to complete, start and finish at same point. Some sections of the track are steep. Wear good comfortable footwear.

Onetangi Forest & Bird Reserve is an easy stroll on Waiheke Island, and it can be a day trip from Auckland taking the ferry and bus on the island if you have no car or a rental.

Back to nature; beautiful, unpolluted. Eden-like. Waiheke is special because of its perfect natural scenery. This is a terrific place to escape from the rat race.

It's just a walk through a forest, not more and not less. The forest is nice enough, but the paths are muddy, and while you hear the birds, you don't see them.
