After following a narrow sealed road toward the top, it the became gravel with a very steep drop on one side. The countryside is breathtakingly beautiful from beginning to end. Although a little nervous about the lack of safety railing, it is quite safe as...More

Beautiful, quiet, and well kept. Spent 2 hours here, and could easily spend the day. The scenery and plant life varies wildly with every rise and fall.

The views and mutliple walking trails on this side are just stunning. Can easily drive to see all the sights and then take in some hikes as you want to. Fantail waterfall hike is a nice easy 30 mins walk. Pretty as well. Stunning views...More

Good, very steep walking back up, great waterfalls bring some hiking shoes if you want to follow the river otherwise bare feet on the trails is fine. Privately owned so grateful to the owner, cheers.

Although steep in places there are many places to rest and enjoy the restorative views of Akaroa and surrounding bays. Some beautiful regenerating native bush attracts the local birdlife. Lots of walk options, depending on your level of fitness. Spend 30 minutes or all day.

A beautiful piece of land that was allowed, obviously with some help,to return to its original state. A lot of native trees and shrubs were replanted and it has some very nice walks, some quite steep. Take an hour or two to explore this place,...More

As a regular visitor to Hinewai, I love to see the remarkable evidence of regeneration of the native forest cover of Banks Peninsula after nearly 200 years of destruction.

Really lovely walking tracks. Everything is well signposted and there are informative signs along the tracks. We went when there was some low cloud. We ended up so high we were fully clouded over. Definitely visit in fine weather for those picture perfect views. Bring...More
