Truly beautiful & unique place to visit…
A truly beautiful, amazing and very unique place to visit. The lower town is small cobble streets and some lovely bars and restaurants that offer lovely views directly over the ocean. The upper town, while it’s not an easy climb to the upper town it is well worth the effort. Once up there it’s about 15 mins uphill climb on cobbles, steps and very uneven stone surfaces, the views are truly incredible. Top tips - go up early in the morning for the fabulous sunrise and cooler conditions. Also where appropriate footwear and take plead water with you..

    Peloponnese must see
A specific old town, with small streets, small doors and a beautiful view. You'll feel like you've gone back in time. The old town stands as a reminder of the past and its walls still protect the city built on the rock.

    Great place to visit
This is an often-overlooked attraction, but worth visiting. Great atmosphere, cool narrow streets. No cars; the fortress is accessible through a single gate wide enough for a donkey carrying luggage. A must-see when you visit Peloponnese.

So worth the trip , fascinating history and so beautiful a photographers dream walking the historic streets . Be sure to check information on the train as it is highly inaccurate, best to take a taxi or tour bus if you have limited time

My wife’s favorite site of the dozens we visited on our two week tour

An excellent hike and when you're done you can go in the little village to have lunch and do a little shopping and have some ice cream.

This is one of the most beautiful and intact castle towns I have ever seen.
So unique in that it is built on the side of a rocky island with walls enclosing both an upper and lower section.
So much history here with many of the buildings intact in the lower section and still inhabited by locals.
The upper section has many old structures that you can walk around and explore with incredible views.
We stayed at the Likinia Hotel inside the castle area and it was very charming.

You have to park outside as no motor vehicles are allowed inside the castle walls, but this was not a problem for us. We just packed what we needed for the night in a backpack and easily carried them inside.

I have seen many medieval castles and this one is spectacular.
So happy I made the visit.

The fortified medieval city is obscured from the land, accessible only by a narrow causeway. There are ancient fortifications and a church at the top of the hill (although construction limits access during weekdays). There are a myriad passages in this pedestrian town only (no cars, only carts). Quaint setting, with churches, walled fortifications, and restaurants, with numerous souvenir-type shops. An interesting visit, but wouldn't recommend staying in the town.

This place is giving Game of Thrones vibes. It's an old fortress at Laconia, Peloponnese that was constructed around 583 AD. There are lots of restaurants, cafeterias, hotels and tourist shops inside the fortress. The view is amazing.

We stayed inside the castle of Monemvasia in the middle of December. Skipping the fact that is extremely difficult to find space to park your car, the whole area is something amazing that travels you back in history.
An enormous monument with big walls. Although it looks hard to climb n the top, the paths and the stairs are in very good condition.
Reaching on the top the views are breathtaking and everything is well preserved and clean.
