Sept 2021
This was the true highlight of our trip to Ireland. First we enjoyed George and his three border collies, who explained and demonstrated how the dogs herded sheep. It was hard to be more enthusiastic than these dogs but we were. Their intelligence and energy was astonishing. After these lovely animals were finished working, their intensity vanished and they enjoyed being petted and played with.
That would have been enough to create an unforgettable day but then we went inside the farmhouse for sandwiches, tea, scones and cream, accompanied by a charming Irish musician. He entertained us with traditional songs and instruments. It was almost as much fun as watching the dogs. These authentic experiences are vanishing so I hope that you'll go and support them

I visited in June 2022 as part of a Great Rail Journeys excursion. Glen Keen Farm was the highlight of our Ireland vacation! Becca and Jan (the best dogs in all of Ireland) demonstrated their sheep herding skills with much enthusiasm. I enjoyed the best meal, no contest, of my nine days in Ireland here while listening to Irish music performed live. A few members of our tour group were selected to participate in the music performance, and we all joined in a singalong. The grounds of the farm are breathtakingly gorgeous, as was the journey to and from through Connemara.

A warm and welcoming place to visit, and also very educational. We visited with another family and enjoyed scone making, live music, a yarn demonstration, and, everyone’s favorite, a sheepdog demonstration. It was an extremely enjoyable experience and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. The dogs are outrageously cute and wonderful, and the setting is gorgeous. They also have a nice gift shop with unusual items and clothes handmade by the artisan who gave the yarn demonstration. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Really lovely place from a vista standpoint. The staff was informative and cordial. The dogs (Border Collies) are so very skilled and athletic, truly wonderful to watch them work. The lunch after the demonstration was hearty, filling, and very tasty.

On my recent tour of Ireland, my visit to Glen Keen Farm was a highlight. From the moment we got there, I felt immediately welcomed and part of the Glen Keen family. The sheepherding demonstration was amazing; watching the shepherd work with the dog was truly wonderful. I truly enjoyed the delicious scone that we were served, and the music put this experience over the top. I hope to return.

The sheep herding demonstration was fantastic. Barkley and Glenn are a team. I think the scones were my favorite thing I have eaten so far. We had Irish music at lunch from a local musician. My favorite part was when we were leaving, the owners, musician, their dog, came out to wave good bye to us. Such a great family atmosphere.

Can't comment on the food or drink here since we just stopped by briefly during our bike tour to check out the store out of curiosity, but we ended up chatting with the elderly gentleman who owns the farm for a good while, and he was so sweet and friendly. He told us a lot about his family and the history of the farm, and he let us pet his amazing border collies, who were so affectionate. It was a very memorable experience, and we really appreciated his kindness.

We were with a group of 28 and stopped to see the sheep herding ~ what an awesome experience! The lunch we were served was fabulous, topped off by the best scones we have ever eaten. Catherine was a wonderful host and we enjoyed her stories about the history of the farm. The entertainment was delightful too!

I am planning a private guided tour of Ireland. Would the activities be open to a private group of 4? What are the costs of the tour and how much time should be allotted?
