Here's why you shouldn't go there:
1. It's too big. All sculptures are very similar, and they are distributed in very big territory, so it's very tiring and boring
2. The park has a mini zoo, where wild animals are held in harsh conditions, their cages even might be old ons from the Kaunas zoo. The worst thing is, you need to pay for it. There's no way to go to the Grutas park without paying for the zoo
3. If you're travelling with a dog, you aren't allowed to go there, unless you're carrying the dog in your hands even though it's just a forest with some sculptures
Yes, it's interesting to walk here, but you'll get bored after 15 minutes, when you see Lenin and few other revolutionist over and over again. The only good thing is that if you're travelling with small kids, it has a big Soviet style playground in the beginning which looks really fun. But it's still not worth to pay 10 euros. There are many more interesting places to visit in Druskininkai for much cheaper price, for example Antanas Cesnulis sculpture park

The zoo in this park is horrific. Ironic. Hypocritical. Painful to watch. Scary this is what parents bring their kids to see for learning and entertainment. This zoo should be immediately closed and the animals released to freedom to their proper geographical habitat. I cannot justify the concept and existence of zoo anymore, especially seeing zoo like this one in Grutas park.

Quite impressive collection of Soviet time monuments bring together from different Lithuanian towns and placed bulky on a huge territory of beautiful Dzukija's forests. Some objects are close to self-parody, but for tourists, coming from the countries which had no Soviet past, it can be quite impressive experience. Soviet-type restaurant on site.

Excellent place to see the monuments to Soviet imperialism and empire while not giving the monuments any real reverence or honor. It's a nice park to walk through and try to figure out where it all used to be located and what it meant at the time. History is doomed to be repeated if we choose to forget and erase any trace of what came before, This park is an important part of maintaining the history of Lithuania and learning how to move forward. It's most filled with ugly, brutalist propaganda sculptures, though there is some more personal effects in the buildings in form of trinkets, rugs, banners, posters etc.
The zoo which is located here is not impressive and not up to the best standards. I think if it was removed, and the animals relocated to more ideal living conditions, the park would not suffer whatsoever and would only be improved.

We had to drive to Gruto parkas or Grutas Park to see something interesting but was disappointed upon seeing the front. We didn´t have to enter the park to see what it had to offer. The entrance pretty much spoke for itself. So I thought I wouldn´t be paying to see those statues. It looked like a forgotten park that was not maintained. The park is privately owned and since they collect money at the entrance, it is a legitimate business. As a business, they should take care and manage the park well to make it look attractive to visitors.

Would be a worth to visit place, but until we walked further the Park and came to the zoo?? (what zoo has anything to do with the Park itself?) I wouldnt recomment this place to anyone. The animals live In poor conditions In small cages and are simply stressed.

The part I was disgusted with was the "zoo" part!! Its from the Soviets aswell!! Its animals are kept in little dirty cages with noting to do but walk in circles and the smell from cages which look like they are never cleaned out is so strong. This is probably one of the biggest cases of cruelty to animals ive ever seen!!
If you love animals you will find this place distressing!!!!
I have added photos.

Amazing piece of history, I would given it 5 stars but then I saw the animals. Bears, wild birds , all in tiny cages. Super sad and unnecessary. It is neither amusing or is humanitarian . The animals belong in the nature while the communist era and the history deserves proper respect and treatment.

This is a really odd open air museum- worth a visit to see the true cruelty of a Soviet regime, which required total commitment to the status quo. It is a combination of mini zoo (conditions for some animals was poor), statues of Stalin, Lenin, Marx, and Lithuanian communist collaborators, old soviet weaponry, and the human cattle trucks which deported Lithuanians to Siberia. There are models of the gulag guard post raised sentry box dotted through the woods. The path winds through the forest and you need a good guide to explain the relevance of each statue, and point on the tour- particularly the lottery train. There are ponds along the route-ideal breeding ground for mosquitos and midges, so if you go there in heat smother yourself in insect repellent. Rather tacky souvenir shops are dotted through the park.

Many countries that were released from the love and tender care from the Soviet occupants have, after the collapse of the USSR and the fall of the Iron Curtain in the early 1990th, destroyed all political statues and other remnants of their Soviet occupants. In Grūto Parkas Lithuania has gathered up a lot of these political statues, that earlier disfigure streets and squares in many towns and villages, to this far away museum. The outdoor exhibition consists of several statues of Stalin, Lenin and local traitors and signs tell from where they are coming and you will have an interesting walk and a lot of fresh air. In the between you can visit the rich indoor exhibitions that shows how the Soviet propaganda worked, how the brainwash of the people worked, how elections were manipulated etc. and if this is not enough for you, you can test one of the cattle cars in the train to Siberia. This exhibition is really worth a visit.

Еду в Парк 10 мая с сыном-инвалидом 1 группы по зрению. Будет ли вход для него и меня бесплатным, как в большинстве достопримечательностей и музеев Литвы?

hi I am interested in visiting on a day trip from Vilnius but am a bit concerned about getting there and back by bus as it seems a bit out of way by public transport , EG ; getting of at right bus stop and then how to get from bus stop to Grutas Park , and then about getting a bus back to Vilnius .

If I was you I would stop the night in druskininkai. That's a nice small spa town. Have a spa day and pop into a bar there. Then it's not such a journey from there to the park the next day. 15K or something like that. You can get busses back from there to Vilnius.
