The Art Nouveau District features stunning architecture from the early 1900s. Many of the buildings were designed by Mihails Eizensteins (1867-1921). These beautiful buildings fell into bad shape under the Soviets because no one had money to maintain them. They are now slowly being restored...More

I was told that if I have time in Riga, I should visit this ArtNouveau Museum. It was absolutely right. For someone who is amazed of the beauty and lavish style of the 1910-1930's, that 'Centrs' part of Riga is just a small treasury box,...More

Well worth a visit. Amazing to see so many Art Nouveau facades in such a concentrated area. You don’t need to do a tour - we learned plenty with a good book and visiting the museum.

If you are in Riga, you definitely don't want to miss it. It is outside of Riga Old Town area. It was about 20 minutes walk in Albert street. On the way there, I got the chance to see in the new town section of...More

Lovely shop with Art Noveau things or copies of them. Good books about the period. We bought on Riga Art Noveau at 10 euros, which we have seen elsewhere at prices 13-16 euros. Friendly staff

Very happy about your kind words. Hope Riga's Art Nouveau buildings left a lovely impression of our city despite the rainy autumn weather.

There are some 800 buildings in this style in Riga, but the most concentrated area is on or around Albert Street. Building follows building of jaw-dropping detail and you feel a bit overwhelmed by this small area. Made me wish I was a better photographer with...More

Walking the streets, stopping to look up at the glorious Art Nouveau buildings was a fabulous treat. Many have been well preserved others are netted presumably to protect them and anyone passing below from the crumbling stone.

I do not know how, but Riga's magnificent architecture has survived 2 WWs and occupation by Germans and Russians. A wonderful surprise on our Baltic cruise. You must walk the area and take your time. The whole city is walkable.
