On an afternoon tour in Riga we spotted this from our Hop On Hop Off bus and instantly wanted to investigate. So impressive from the outside, and even more impressive inside. No photography inside. We purchased some candles and lit them - very beautiful and serene.

This church is definitely worth a visit. The gold domes outside are so beautiful. Go inside and you will see so many wonderful icons decorated with gold. The paintings on the inside of the domes catch the sunlight for a truly religious experience.

Firstly, show some respect - No photography inside, and women should cover their heads with a scarf (one available free to use from the shop just inside). The inside is beautiful. It is not a huge floor area but has a very high dome. Everything shines in gold (or rather brass). A wonderful cathedral. I recommend buying the leaflet all... More

An active church with local community of goers. While there a newborn was baptized and it was moving and magnificent. The building and decorations are in the best form and shape.

We visited this church while it was full of locals in the middle of some kind of easter ritual. This made the visit very special and intresting. There is a lot of art to look at in the church, and for me it was a good introduction to this kind of christianity. Beautiful on the outside and on the inside.... More

One of the most stunning and beautifully crafted buildings I have ever been inside of. It was such a shame you couldn't take photos however it is a case of respect. There are murals on the ceilings and gold chandeliers and candles everywhere. The entry Way shot is nothing like the interior if you venture further in.

We were admiring the exterior and taking lots of photos then wandered in. This was a fabulous experience. We're not religious at all but to hear the priest chanting and observe the people praying was actually quite moving. The interior was beautiful and we enjoyed the atmosphere.

The GF and I visited today and were amazed at the ornate decoration and icons of the cathedral. It's not really a tourist destination as it doesn't charge and the other visitors were saying prayers, but it is an amazing attraction

As capital cities go the cathedral is a bit disappointing but what was very special was attendig a concert when the fantastic organ (6,768 pipes) was played - very memorable.
