This is a nice museum, that tells you a lot about the history of Riga, some of it quite dull, if I am being honest. However there is a beautiful room on the upper floor, which is worth seeing.

It was a great museum as you started on the top floor nearly 1000 yrs ago and progressed downstairs through history. The only downsid3 is that individual exhibits weren’t in English so you had to carry a room card with you to explain the items.

I stumbled on this museum almost by chance - and I'm glad I did. set over three floors, this formerly private collection charts the history of the area back to stone aged times. Great!

Well presented museum of Riga's history from Albert's "founding" of it in the late 1100s to the various controlling interests - Poland, Sweden, Russia and the Soviet Union. Interesting artifacts. Well worth a visit!

Fantastic museum for local history: starts with prehistoric and ends nowadays. Many many nice artefacts. 2 to 3 hours for a good visit. THE place to see.

Both the museum and the building are impressive. Several floors of exhibitions and a big central hall with columns. This gave a good idea about Riga and its place in travel by ship.

The museum is located in the old town in a historic building. The exhibition provides a good overview of Latvia's history. Entrance is free of charge.
