Riga's Jugendstil quarter (clearly signposted from Elizabete iela) is amazing. Everywhere you look are intricately decorated town houses. The museum on Alberta iela explains how and why Riga came to have so many Jugendstil buildings and how they survived Soviet occupation. There are walking tours...More

The Jugendstijl is everywhere from massively decorated - more belle époque fronts to the clean and classic Bauhaus look but all built from around 1915 to the 1930s. Very interesting

Although many buildings are under innovation at the moment, it is still worth visiting. Pay attention to the details of the ornaments - Art Deco at its best.

This museum gives a very good view on the original Jugendstil interior. All room are perfectly decorated with a lot of details. Itvis not crowded, so you enjoy the sight. As an extra you can picture yourselve with a Jugendstil hat.

Whether you call it Jugenstil or Art Nouveau, Riga is a great place to see every possible variation, and its streets are the very opposite of a English Georgian terrace.

Whilst "Albert St." is the must see, there are literally hundreds of other worthy buildings to admire in the surrounding City Blocks. For us the overall effect was to encourage us to find out more about Art Nouveau and Jugendstil. Veritable Feast for the Eyes!

Modern (Art Nouveau, Jugendstil) district must visit place for arch-lovers. Many modern buildings concentrated in one place keep your attention for a couple of hours.

A whole area with fantastic Jugend style buildings. One of them has a museumapartment that you can visit. And in the same house there is an open gallery-apertment at the top-floor. Very fine

If to recommend one to see in Riga, I would advice to see Art Nouveau buildings. Riga's historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Important register is entered through a medieval building, the 19th century wooden architecture and Art Nouveau architecture, which spread in...More

Sorry, these old streets are very uneven and a lot of them are cobblestones that could be problematic for you. Perhaps your best bet would be the red hop on and off bus tour that has headphones in every language and see the... More
