This FREE museum is spread over 4 or 5 floors and much of it is in English with hand books to read on your visit. Lots of interesting exhibits from the German invasion then the Russians - such a lot of history in Latvia.

The museum is free to visit and has 4 stores full of exhibits. There are some videos, interactive games and if you are interested and pay attention you can really lose the track of time. We were in a bit of hurry, so we spent there about an hour, but we could have been there way longer.

Great museum. A lot of the exhibits. The visitor can get a good overview of the history of Latvia and the fight for freedom.

This museum, which is located next to the Powder Tower, provide you with the war history of the country. Some of the exhibits and history could be found before the entrance of the building.

This place is well worth visiting on a trip to Riga. Entry is free and although I expected it be a brief flying visit we found ourselves absorbed fully for a couple of hours - and could have stayed longer. In particular the 1st World War section on the 2nd floor was outstanding. They have done a wonderful job bringing... More

This museum will take a few hours to see everything. The old gunpowder tower is just the entrance. The building behind is still part of the museum.
