The story behind this unique architecture tells of its Latvian owner who was denied membership in the powerful Great Guild; to show his displeasure, he built two cat sculptures on his roof with their backsides facing the Guild and their tails straight up to finish the insult.

Two cats on top of the building form an interesting interactive posture. It was a very nice humor if you know the history of it.

The house is at the west side of a well known square. I like it, except the below restaurant andgazino. I would prefer that the whole building should be keept as original.

Great piece of history - with a cat perched up on the roof. Great for photographers and lots of cobbled street to amuse.

The cats at the top of the house were originally placed with their tails (backsides) towards the merchants guild as they wouldn't let the Cat house owner join as a sign of his displeasure but once they let him in he had them turned round...More
