I find I'm repeating myself when it comes to Riga and its churches and architecture It's a must for those of you that love history, architecture, beautiful and quirky old and new buildings, sculptures Something for everyone. After Budapest, Barcelona and other beautifully built architectully rich cities I didn't think my tastes would be tickled, I was wrong Riga is... More

Said to have been built in the 13th century, this church has some interesting and different styles of architecture in itself, inside & out. I guess it's because it was started, reconstructed & "finished" over a span of hundreds of years. One can go up to it's tower to get a panoramic view of the city but sadly we did... More

We got in with our student cards, that got as 2€ discount(7€). We climbed two floors and then got the lift to the top. It wasnt crouded and we stayed as long as we wanted. It is totally worth it as the view is amazing, especially if you have the photography bug.

There is some interesting old film footage showing the work to renovate the Church. You have to walk up some stairs before you can access the lift. The views are wonderful. For newcomers it would be nice to have a description to match the skyline, but it is easily fixed as you can walk around Riga easily and match the... More

This Lutheran church dates to the early 1200s, originally constructed on the site of the palace of Bishop Albert, who founded Riga in 1201AD. (The Art Nouveau epicenter Alberta ilea [Albert Street] is named for him.) It was expanded many times starting in the 1330s. More expansion began in 1587, but Riga’s Great Fire of May 31, 1677 saw tremendous... More

This church and it's tower is really worth a visit. Should be visited when the weather is sunny and bright.

St. Peter's Church is the highlight attraction of Riga. Nearby the Town Hall Square, the church offers the external courtyard, the church interior, and the staple for visitors high viewpoint. There were so much to visit within Riga that we simply walked the courtyard and had a brief looked into the church. Maybe we shall stay longer on our next... More

This is a wonderful church and contains a lot of history. There is an organ recital at 12 noon on most days, though this has a fee attached, usually around 20 euros. The inside of the church delights along with amazing stained glass windows and a cloister.
